Answer four questions and see which of 11 rental sites are free for your property, which charge, and the catch with each. Checked against each site’s own terms, 19 October 2026.
“In Reallyo’s network” marks the sites among the 19 Reallyo syndicates to. US listings only; acceptance depends on each partner’s rules.
Three things change what a rental site charges, and the finder asks about each:
Craigslist adds a fourth: apartment posts cost $5 in the Boston, Chicago and New York areas.
The free sites cost time instead. Each one is its own form, its own photos upload and its own inbox, and Zillow and Apartments.com take a listing down after 21 days unless you renew it. One rental on six sites is an afternoon. Twenty rentals a month on six sites is 120 forms, plus the renewals and the take-downs when a unit leases. That’s the work a syndication service replaces: enter each rental once, and its feed updates every site.

For a house, condo or building of up to 4 units: Zillow Rental Manager (which also shows on Trulia and HotPads), Apartments.com, Redfin Rental Tools, Zumper (a few listings a month), Dwellsy and, outside the Boston, Chicago and New York areas, Craigslist. Landlords listing their own units can also reach Realtor.com free through Avail. Larger buildings pay on most of the big sites.
Yes, for listings posted directly in Zillow Rental Manager. The optional Premium upgrade is $39.99 for up to 90 days. Communities of 25 or more units go through Zillow’s sales team.
Apartments.com lists properties with 1 to 4 units free. Properties with 5 or more units are on paid plans, priced by quote.
On most of the big sites, no: Zillow, Apartments.com (1 to 4 units) and Zumper treat an agent’s listing like anyone else’s. Rentberry charges agents and brokers $24.99 a month, and Avail’s free plan is built for landlords listing their own units.
Use a syndication service: you enter the rental once and it sends the listing to each site’s feed. Reallyo sends each rental to 19 rental sites, including Zillow, Apartments.com and Realtor.com, and its free plan covers one listing.
