Question 4 of 4

Are you posting to Apartments.com alone, or syndicating to multiple sites?

Your answer

Start free, upgrade if needed

Your 1–4 unit property qualifies for Apartments.com's free listing, which runs for 21 days with standard visibility. If a unit sits, ask Apartments.com for a Premium quote in your account—the price varies by state and market. Compare the cost against what a vacant week costs you before you commit.

Your answer

Flexible Listing Plan for your portfolio

You manage several properties under 50 units each. The Flexible Listing Plan lets you move listings between properties and advertises on 5 rental sites. Pricing is custom; request a quote from Apartments.com's sales team. Ask which sites your listing will reach and how leads are counted by source.

Your answer

Ad package by quote

With 5 or more units, you'll work with Apartments.com's advertising team to choose a tier (Silver through Diamond Plus). Prices aren't published and depend on your market and goals. Before you sign, ask for the monthly price, contract length, which of the 8 network sites your listing reaches, and how leads are delivered and tracked.

Your answer

A basic Apartments.com listing is free for properties of 1 to 4 units. Everything above that is priced by quote: Apartments.com doesn’t publish prices for its Premium upgrade, its Flexible Listing Plan or its Silver-to-Diamond advertising packages. Premium’s price “varies depending on your state and market”, and the larger plans go through its sales team. Here’s what each option is, who it’s for, and what to ask before you sign. (Checked 16 October 2026. Disclosure: Reallyo publishes this blog and syndicates rentals to Apartments.com and other sites.)

The free listing (1 to 4 units)

Apartments.com says plainly: “A basic listing on Apartments.com is free.” A free listing gets “21 days of standard visibility”. It’s for small properties: the same page offers its packages for “properties with 1 to 4 units” and asks “Does your property have 5 units or more?” before sending larger owners to its advertising team.

Premium (1 to 4 units)

Premium is the paid upgrade for small properties. Apartments.com doesn’t list a price; instead, “Pricing for Premium varies depending on your state and market, and you will be prompted with a curated price when the feature is activated.” So you only see the price inside your account, for your market.

What Apartments.com says Premium adds:

  • “9x more search results impressions” (Apartments.com’s figure)
  • “Upload up to 6 videos (1GB)“

The Flexible Listing Plan

For managers with several smaller properties, Apartments.com offers the Flexible Listing Plan: “One low-cost plan for portfolios containing multiple properties with fewer than 50 units.” Its selling point is movement: “Fill a vacancy at one property? Begin advertising a vacancy at another property right away.” Listings appear “on 5 leading rental sites”. The price isn’t published; Apartments.com describes it only as “special pricing”, so you request a quote.

The ad packages: Silver to Diamond Plus

Larger communities buy advertising packages. Apartments.com sells eight tiers, from Silver up to Diamond Plus, plus a Diamond Plus with Matterport Max option, and says “Whether you manage five units or five thousand, Apartments.com has a solution built for your goals.”

The tiers differ mainly by how prominently your property is shown. Apartments.com describes exposure relative to Silver; one tier is advertised at “300% More Exposure Than Silver”. The packages page also lists “Listing on 8 websites”. No prices are published for any tier.

Where an Apartments.com listing appears

Apartments.com is part of CoStar Group, which describes “Our extensive network of 11 leading sites including Apartments.com, ForRent.com, ApartmentFinder.com, Homes.com and 7 others”. Several of those sites don’t sell their own rental listing plans; listings come through Apartments.com:

  • ForRent: “Add your rental house, townhome, or condo listings via Apartments.com and it will automatically be listed on ForRent.com.”
  • ForRentUniversity: listings added through Apartments.com “automatically appear on ForRentUniversity.com”.
  • Homes.com: “Apartments.com is the exclusive provider of multifamily listings to Homes.com.”

How many of those sites your listing reaches depends on the product: 5 sites for the Flexible Listing Plan, 8 for the ad packages, as Apartments.com describes them.

What to ask before you buy a package

Because every paid option is by quote, the useful questions are the ones the pricing page doesn’t answer:

  1. What’s the monthly price for my property and market, and what’s the contract length?
  2. Which of the network’s sites will my listing appear on, and in what position?
  3. How are leads delivered and counted, and can I see leads by source?
  4. What happens to my listing and price if I cancel?

Is a paid Apartments.com plan worth it?

For a small landlord, start free: the basic listing costs nothing and runs for 21 days. Pay for Premium only if a unit sits, and check the price Apartments.com quotes in your account against what a vacant week costs you; on a $2,000-a-month rental that’s roughly $500 (Hemlane puts 15 extra vacant days at about $1,000).

For a community, Apartments.com runs one of the largest rental networks in the US, so a package is often part of the budget. Ask for leads by source so you can compare it with Zillow’s network and the other sites before renewing.

Our take: get every unit onto all the big rental sites first, free where you can, then pay for placement on the network that actually sends you renters.

Apartments.com and the other big sites in one step

Reallyo sends each rental to the 19 rental sites in its network, including Apartments.com, Zillow, Realtor.com and Zumper, keeps price changes in sync and takes rented units down everywhere. It’s free for one listing, and $89 a month covers 100 active listings. Portfolios can import listings automatically from a spreadsheet, an XML feed, an MLS or a property management system. For the step-by-step on posting directly, see how to post rentals on Apartments.com.
