How to List a Rental on Redfin, Rent.com & ApartmentGuide (2026)
Redfin, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide are one network with two doors: a free Redfin form for small buildings, a Zillow contract at 25+ units, and a gap between.

To list a rental on Redfin, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide, post it once with Redfin Rental Tools, which is free. Redfin says one listing “will also syndicate to Rent.com and Apartmentguide.com”, and the tool is “free for up to 10 buildings that have 4 or fewer units” (Redfin support). If your building has 25 or more units, the door is different: you need an advertising contract with Zillow (Rent.com).
The three names are one network, and since 15 June 2025 there are two ways in. For buildings of 5 to 24 units, none of the three companies says which one applies. Redfin’s FAQ describes the tool as “designed for properties with fewer than 5 units”, Rent.com sends anything under 25 units to it, and Zillow points 1 to 24 units to Zillow Rental Manager. We checked every page on 25 October 2026 and built the route table below from them.
(Disclosure: Reallyo publishes this blog. Reallyo publishes rentals to Rent.com and Redfin, among the 19 rental sites in its network.)
Key takeaways
- Redfin, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide share one listing pipeline. A listing posted through Redfin Rental Tools appears on all three.
- Small landlords and managers: free, up to 10 buildings of 4 or fewer units. You need a Redfin account, an ID check and at least 5 photos.
- 25 or more units: Zillow became the sole provider of those listings on the three sites on 15 June 2025. We found no price published by Zillow or Redfin.
- 5 to 24 units: not published by Redfin, Rent.com or Zillow. Ask Redfin before you build a process around it.
- Rent.com’s own advertising products, including RentSearch and RentTarget, were discontinued on 15 June 2025.
The short answer: which door, by portfolio size
| You list | Route | Cost | Contact | Reaches Redfin / Rent.com / ApartmentGuide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 house, condo or unit in a building of 1 to 4 units | Redfin Rental Tools | Free | Your Redfin account dashboard; Redfin support request form | All three (Redfin) |
| Up to 10 buildings, each 4 units or fewer | Redfin Rental Tools, one listing at a time | Free for “your first ten properties” | Same | All three |
| A building of 5 to 24 units | Not published by Redfin, Rent.com or Zillow | Not published | Ask Redfin support whether Rental Tools accepts the building. Zillow says “Zillow Rental Manager may be a better fit” for 1 to 24 units | Redfin and Rent.com say Rental Tools reaches the three sites. Zillow’s own pages don’t say Rental Manager reaches Redfin’s sites below 25 units |
| 25 or more units | Zillow Rentals advertising contract | Not published; Zillow sells through its sales team | Zillow’s sales form. Existing Zillow clients missing from Rent.com: Zillow Support, per Redfin’s FAQ | All three (Zillow, 11 Feb 2025) |
| Any size, through landlord software | The software’s syndication add-on, where one exists | TenantCloud: $30 Premium syndication, valid 30 days. ManageCasa: listed as free | Your software’s support | TenantCloud names Rent.com, Redfin and ApartmentGuide. ManageCasa names Rent.com, ApartmentGuide.com, Rentals.com and Redfin Rentals |
| Many listings, as an agent or manager | A syndication service or listing feed | Varies by provider | The provider | Reallyo publishes to Rent.com and Redfin, plus 17 more rental sites; free for 1 listing |
Checked 25 October 2026 against each company’s own pages. We found no vendor page showing how AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, Rent Manager or RealPage send listings to these three sites, so the table doesn’t claim it.

3 questions, 15 seconds. Find the route for your building size.
Question 1 of 3
How many units are in the building you're listing?
Question 2 of 3
How many rentals do you list in a typical month?
Question 3 of 3
Do you list for yourself or for other owners?
Your answer
Use Redfin Rental Tools: one free listing reaches all three
Redfin Rental Tools is free for up to 10 buildings of 4 or fewer units, and Redfin says the listing also syndicates to Rent.com and ApartmentGuide.com. You need a Redfin account, an ID check and at least 5 photos, and the listing expires after a year unless you remove it first.

5 to 24 units: ask Redfin, and list on Zillow Rental Manager meanwhile
Redfin, Rent.com and Zillow don't publish which door a 5 to 24 unit building uses. Redfin says its tool is designed for fewer than 5 units, Rent.com sends anything under 25 units to it, and Zillow says Rental Manager may be a better fit for 1 to 24 units. Ask Redfin support first, and don't count on Redfin's sites from a Zillow Rental Manager listing.

25 or more units: the route is a Zillow advertising contract
Rent.com says Zillow has been the sole provider of 25+ unit listings on Rent.com, ApartmentGuide.com and Redfin.com since 15 June 2025. Zillow says its advertising sales team handles larger portfolios, and that standalone multifamily advertising products from Zillow and Redfin are planned for 2027.
How the Zillow network fits togetherYour answer
Enter each rental once and let a syndication service send it
The free Redfin form takes one listing at a time. Reallyo publishes rentals to Rent.com and Redfin: enter a rental once and it goes there and to the rest of the 19 sites in its network. Your first listing is free, with no credit card.

How do you list a rental on Redfin?
Go to Redfin’s list page, click “Get Started”, sign in and answer the questions. Redfin’s steps are: “go to www.redfin.com/rentals/list-my-home-for-rent and click ‘Get Started.’” You need to be logged in or create a Redfin account. Redfin says it will ask “a few questions about yourself for security reasons”, then information about the home and your photos (Redfin support).
What you need before you start:
- Rent, beds, baths, lease terms and a description, plus “at least 5 photos”.
- A photo ID. Redfin says it uses Stripe “to verify the identity of every property owner or manager”, and that the ID photo “will be deleted after it has been verified”.
- Patience for the fraud review. Redfin says your home “could be listed in minutes if you pass our fraud review”. If it suspects fraud, “we block it from being posted”.
Three limits from the same FAQ are worth knowing. The tool “is only available in some areas”. A listing “will expire after a year if it has not been manually removed”. And you can’t post from the Redfin app: “At this time, Redfin Rental Tools is only available on a computer or mobile browser.”
Renter inquiries arrive by email and in your Redfin dashboard. If you tick the box when you create the listing, renters can apply and be screened through TurboTenant (Redfin support). One more rule from Redfin’s Rent.com and ApartmentGuide FAQ: if the home is also listed for sale, “we will only display the for-sale listing” (Redfin support).
How do you list on Rent.com or ApartmentGuide?
You list on Redfin, and the listing appears on both. Rent.com’s list page says: “List your home with Redfin and it will automatically appear on Rent.” (Rent.com). ApartmentGuide’s says: “Rentals listed on Redfin are automatically featured on ApartmentGuide” (ApartmentGuide).
There’s no separate Rent.com or ApartmentGuide landlord dashboard to find. Rent.com’s FAQ says that as of 15 June 2025 “all Rent. services and products were discontinued”, and lists RentSearch, RentSocial, RentTarget, RentRep, RentEngage and Property Sites among them. RentHQ is “no longer accessible”, including its historical data.
For a rental property with fewer than 25 units, Rent.com’s instruction is: “please use Redfin Rental Tools. This tool allows you to post rental listings, and collect leads and applications (via TurboTenant) all for free.” Billing questions about old Rent.com invoices go to billing@rent.com, per Rent.com’s page.
What changed on 15 June 2025: the RentPath brands before and after
Rocket Companies completed its acquisition of Redfin on 1 July 2025 (Rocket). Two weeks earlier, on 15 June, the rental sites had been reorganised around two partners: Zillow for large buildings and Redfin’s own tool for small ones. This is where each old name stands now.
| Name | Before 15 June 2025 | Now (25 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Rent.com | Sold advertising to property managers: RentSearch, RentSocial, RentTarget, RentRep, RentEngage and Property Sites | Those products discontinued. Rent.com calls itself “part of the Zillow Rentals Network”. 25+ units list with Zillow; smaller rentals use Redfin Rental Tools (Rent.com) |
| ApartmentGuide | Same network as Rent.com | Same routes. Its list page sends you to Redfin (ApartmentGuide) |
| Rentals.com | Own web address | Redirects (301) to redfin.com/rentals (checked 25 October 2026) |
| Lovely | Own web address | Redirects (301) to apartmentguide.com (checked 25 October 2026) |
| RentHQ | The Rent. performance dashboard | ”No longer accessible” (Rent.com) |
| Redfin | Rental search, with its own rental advertising sold to managers | Takes small-building listings free through Rental Tools; shows Zillow’s multifamily listings |
The Zillow side of this is in Zillow’s own words. On 11 February 2025 Zillow and Redfin announced a partnership “making Zillow the exclusive provider of multifamily rental listings (properties with 25 or more units) on Redfin and its sites, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide.com”. Zillow said “all multifamily properties advertising with Zillow will syndicate directly to Redfin and its sites”. For the background, see The Zillow Rentals Network Explained and Zillow’s acquisition history.
What happens in 2027?
Zillow’s 24 August 2026 release says “The partnership will continue, and the listings syndication will remain intact across Zillow, Trulia, HotPads, Rent.com, ApartmentGuide and Redfin. In 2027, Zillow and Redfin will offer standalone multifamily advertising products in addition to the existing partnership” (Zillow Group). We found no prices, formats or sign-up pages for those products on 25 October 2026.
That affects large buildings first. If you manage 25 or more units, the Zillow contract is the route today, and a Redfin-side option is expected from 2027. If you list small buildings, the free Redfin tool is unchanged on the pages we read.
What about a building of 5 to 24 units?
It’s the one case where no company’s page gives a straight answer. Redfin’s FAQ says Rental Tools “is designed for properties with fewer than 5 units”, and in the same article that it’s free for “up to 10 buildings that have 4 or fewer units”. Rent.com tells owners of “a rental property with less than 25 units” to use it. Zillow’s sales form separates “Properties with 25 or more units” from “Properties with 1-24 units” and says “Zillow Rental Manager may be a better fit” for the second group.
What we’d do, in order:
- Email Redfin support (the FAQ links its request form) and ask whether Rental Tools accepts your building, and whether the listing reaches Rent.com and ApartmentGuide. Keep the reply.
- List the building on Zillow Rental Manager in the meantime. Zillow describes its network as Zillow, Trulia and HotPads. The sites Redfin owns aren’t on that list for buildings under 25 units, so don’t count on them from this route.
- Don’t buy anything for it. We found no paid plan from Redfin or Rent.com for this size.
We haven’t tested the Redfin form with a 5 to 24 unit address, because that needs an account. If you do, tell us what it says and we’ll update this page.
Where Reallyo fits
Reallyo publishes rentals to Rent.com and Redfin. It’s the route for an agent or manager who’d rather not re-enter each listing on each site: you enter a rental once and it goes to Rent.com, Redfin and the rest of the 19 rental sites in Reallyo’s network, including Zillow, Apartments.com, Realtor.com and Zumper. Price changes and rented units stay in sync, so you don’t log in to each site to update them.
Reallyo also builds a listing page, video and social posts from the same details. The free plan covers 1 active listing at a time and paid plans start at $39 a month for 10. US rentals only, long-term only. Try Reallyo free: your first listing goes to Rent.com, Redfin and the rest of the network at no cost, with no credit card. FAQ
How do I list a rental on Redfin? Go to redfin.com/rentals/list-my-home-for-rent, click “Get Started” and sign in or create a Redfin account. Add rent, beds, baths, lease terms, a description and at least 5 photos, then pass the ID and fraud review. It’s free for up to 10 buildings of 4 or fewer units. Redfin Rental Tools isn’t available in every area.
Is it free to list a rental on Redfin? Yes, for small portfolios. Redfin says “It is free to list your first ten properties for rent on Redfin using Redfin Rental Tools” and that the tool is free for up to 10 buildings of 4 or fewer units. For buildings of 25 or more units, we found no price published by Redfin or Zillow.
Does a Redfin rental listing appear on Rent.com and ApartmentGuide? Yes. Redfin says a rental listing posted through Redfin.com “will also syndicate to Rent.com and Apartmentguide.com”, and both of those sites tell owners to list through Redfin.
How do I list on Rent.com? List through Redfin Rental Tools if the property has fewer than 25 units. For 25 or more units, Rent.com says you need “a direct advertising contract with Zillow”. Rent.com’s own advertising products were discontinued on 15 June 2025.
Is Rent.com owned by Redfin? Yes. Zillow’s February 2025 release calls Rent.com and ApartmentGuide.com Redfin’s sites (“Redfin and its sites, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide.com”), and Rocket Companies completed its acquisition of Redfin on 1 July 2025. Since June 2025 Rent.com has described itself as part of the Zillow Rentals Network for large-building listings.
Do Zillow and Redfin have different listings? For buildings of 25 or more units that advertise with Zillow, the same listings appear on both. Smaller rentals posted through Redfin Rental Tools appear on Redfin, Rent.com and ApartmentGuide. Rentals posted in Zillow Rental Manager appear on Zillow’s own sites.
Can I list a 5 to 24 unit building on Redfin? It isn’t stated. Redfin says the tool is designed for fewer than 5 units, Rent.com sends anything under 25 units to it, and Zillow suggests Rental Manager for 1 to 24 units. Ask Redfin support before you rely on it.
Can I advertise on Redfin? For rentals, listing is free through Rental Tools. Searches for “advertise on Redfin” also cover home sales, agent referrals and new construction, which are separate Redfin programs.
What changes for property managers in 2027? Zillow says that in 2027 “Zillow and Redfin will offer standalone multifamily advertising products in addition to the existing partnership”. We found no published details on 25 October 2026.
